  Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!

  yes, there’s a post on reddit.

  it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.

  this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

  RB What do you believe now? Were you happy when you were PIMI? Do your new beliefs provide hope for the future?

  Wow, where do I start, I was a late teenage convert in the 80's and I came in thanks to a perfect storm of circumstances. Never ever dreamed that I could end up a JW, just got sucked into the vortex of no escape. Never really believed all of it but I wanted it to be true and was prepared to give benefit of doubt drink the cool aid and enjoy the vast array of new friends, probably like most of us. I had a good wife, a good job lots of new friends and yes I was mostly happy except for deep down burning doubts about flip flops and past failed predictions etc.

  What do I believe now? Do I believe in God?? Yes, I think this is a reasonable conclusion however he may not be at all who or what we think he is. Seems to me that who ever comes up with the best explanation for God is able to claim a special relationship with him and subsequently gains a big following, wealth and especially power over other peoples. This is how it goes!

  My mind is now unchained and I have resigned myself to the understanding that it is better to questions that cannot be answered than answers that you cannot question.

  Still no U turn on vax mandates for all schools

  you still have to be fully vaccinated to attend any theocratic schools.

  elders and ministerial servants have their kingdom ministry school every year, the cobe of every congregation has to check that everyone is fully vaccinated.

  after the school everyone will ask any bothers who were not there why not?

  if you had to do anything before coming to christ to be saved, then now is not the accepted time.. salvation is faith in christ and in christ alone.. jws must first have to prove themselves before they are approved.

  I keep thinking when something comes out wow this is huge, now we know for sure that they were not safe or effective. But no, there seems to be some kind of mass psychosis in the general public and even more concentrated in JWs.

  We need a "Emperor has no clothes" moment.

  Link between relationships and health/happiness

  even though i’m agnostic so will not commit to either intelligent design or chance, i love being part of the congregation for the close personal relationships.. there is such a great atmosphere inside the congregation it really is like a family and you don’t get this anywhere else.. a real friend is someone you can rely on when you are in need.

  if things go wrong for you and you are going through a hard time you know real friends will be there for you.

  as long as you didn’t bring it on yourself by going against gods law then you have to prove you are repentant first of course.. there is a lot of research now saying that good friends is essential for healthy and happiness.

  Yeah, because no one else in the world has close friends or family they can rely on.
  

  Oh that is nonsense on steroids Syd, my old cong if heavily stacked with fractured families, most of the kids there have cousins that the don't know because "they are not in the truth". As for "no one else in the world has close friends or family they can rely on" how do you know that? Let me tell you from my own experience that there is more nutters and grifters inside the Borg than "out in the world".
